The past few days have been long. Sleep is has become more absent from the night again. But it is hard to sleep when there is so much to see and do. A few nights ago, Jacob and I stayed over night at a camp in Vsetin, Czech Republic. This was our first opportunity to make use of our tent and camping gear. We had a small room offered to us with beds and a roof, but we decided to pitch the tent and capture the stars.
Visiting camps has been an eye opening experience. With each new camp that I visit, I am constantly comparing it with what I have known in Albania. Some camps are big, some camps are small. Some camps feel like your at a resort, some camps feel like you're roughing it pretty good. Some camps have lot's of Americans helping, some camps have few Americans helping. Some camps are just day camps, some camps are overnight. While there is a lot of diversity from camp to camp, there are still some similarities. The kids that come to these camps love Americans and love learning English. As long as camp consist of those two things, nothing else matters.
For many of these kids, English camp might be the highlight of their summer. And for some of them, it is potentially the best thing that has ever happened to them. This was definitely evident for those who stood in front of my camera this past week. I have been absolutely blown away by some the testimonies to what God has done in the lives of some of these students. God is really on the move here in Central and Eastern Europe and is raising up new leaders that have a passion for the name of Jesus and His fame. I am looking forward to constructing a video that will tell these stories well of what God is doing. To Him be all the glory!
And I must say, I am very thankful for my intern and companion Jacob Hash. He has been a blessing to me and I am excited to continue to get to know him better and grow with him as the summer continues and our adventure rolls on.
Here are some pictures from this past week of travel and visiting different JV camps in Poland, Czech, and Slovakia.
